Thanks for starting this thread because it gives me an excuse to rant for a few paragraphs on this subject.
I also hate windchimes. I think it’s totally presumptuos of anyone to hang them up. Maybe they like them, but how do they know that everyone in earshot likes them.
If I played a song out my window 7×24 at the same volume as the average windchime, most people would consider that very rude. So why isn’t it considered rude to hang up a windchime that goes bong, bong, bong, bong, on and on and on?
One man’s music is another man’s noise — and the people who get all sappy about windchimes should remember that. They smuggly believe that they’re sharing delightful music with the rest of the world, but to many people it’s like fingers on a chalk board. Windchime lovers would be the first to object if someone was blasting Metalica into their yard, but they have no compunction about intruding into other people’s space with their noise. Whether it be windchimes or Metalica, it’s common courtesy to listen to it in your own space.
About the windchimes – I TOTALLY agree with everything the last poster said!!! In fact, I think windchimes should be illegal. I would love to join a “windchime haters” group, but I checked Yahoo, and none exists. Does anyone know if there are any somewhere else?
