This past weekend we made a special trip out to Jordan Lake Recreational Area, 15 miles south of Durham, to take Charlie on his first swimming adventure. At first he was a little bit nervous about the noisy waves lapping against the shore. But once he jumped in, we couldn’t tear him away from the water! He certainly must be part Labrador. Be sure to check out the slideshow of pictures!
Our apartment complex recently announced a Balcony Beautification Contest (with prizes!), so this weekend Clinton and I shopped for plants, potting soil and pots. I even have my own little trowel and gardening gloves now! The deck is a work in progress, but it certainly is more beautiful now. This taking-care-of plants thing, however, will be a grand experiment. I’ve never really had a green thumb. More like a black and dying thumb. I will take some pictures and post them once the balcony is ready for the judges on Thursday 6/15.
Carolina Godiva Running Start training has been going well, and we’re now up to four miles. Check out our group photo, here. (That’s me in the lavender tank top!) This weekend, I’m running in the 5K Race for the Cure. If you’d like to make a small online donation to help me reach my goal of raising $150 for breast cancer research, please visit my Race for the Cure Web page. It’s easy and fast!
Clinton, now a full-time college student, has been studying very hard. He’s taking Calculus, Philosophy, Computer Science and Library Science.
Have a great week, everyone.
