Yesterday I stayed at work for 17 hours writing a proposal with a group of colleagues under a very tight deadline. As a result, I missed out on going to the Bulls game last night, and I didn’t get home until quarter to one this morning. This exhausting experience makes me daydream about what I would do if work didn’t take up my whole life. Here’s my ideal day:
- Wake up whenever I want to
- Meditate and do yoga
- Eat eggs, fruit and little bitty pancakes for breakfast, maybe a slice or two of bacon [preferably all cooked by someone else]
- Sit on the back porch reading all the Durham news blogs while sipping hojicha green tea
- Errands: Visit the Durham public library for more fantasy novels; hit the Wednesday afternoon Durham Farmers’ Market for tomatoes, collards and cantaloupe; take dogs to Sennett Hole to swim
- Lie on a picnic blanket in Durham Central Park to read fantasy novels and knit
- Meet up with the Fartlekers for an evening run through Duke Forest and Sarah P. Duke Gardens
- Go home to shower, cook Indian food for dinner, then blog until I feel sleepy
I would also enjoy plays at the Manbites Dog Theater and visits to Renaissance festivals anytime they are available.
